The first field of application of the Enneagram is the one that has existed from its beginnings: self knowledge. Understanding how I function enables me to become more objective with regard to myself and more subjective with others. This is where any profound change starts: knowledge, and later acceptance of, myself, then of those close to me are, and finally of all the people with whom I have contact in my life.

The choice of studies and career is an issue that so many young adults between about 16 and 25 have to address, sometimes with insufficient reference points to help them find the right direction.
